Specializing in real estate and class actions. Prior to co-founding Poulos LoPiccolo PC, John N. Poulos was an associate with the prestigious Manhattan law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, ranked #1 in the United States in the American Lawyer’s A-List. Mr. Poulos worked at Hughes Hubbard for nearly 15 years where he was a paralegal, managing attorney’s clerk and then an associate for 10 years.
He represents lending institutions such as JP Morgan Chase, PNC Bank and various other banks, buyers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions in both New Jersey and New York. He handles CEMAs, EMAs, 1031 Exchanges, FHA, VA, and short sale transactions. Mr. Poulos has also been selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine, “Rising Stars” for 2009 and 2010 for commercial litigation and construction law and selected as a Super Lawyer in 2019, 2020-2024 for real estate. Class Action / Complex Litigation
- Kuzian et al. v. Electrolux Home Products, Inc., 12-cv-3930-(NHL)(AMD), United States District Court for the District of New Jersey – Co-Lead Class Counsel in Class action filed on behalf of all purchasers of Electrolux and Frigidaire refrigerators that have among other defects, defective icemakers. Final approval granted and settlement valued at over $20 MM
- Vitale v. US Gas & Electric, Inc., 14-cv-04464 (KM)(MAH), United States District Court for the District of New Jersey – Class action settled on behalf of individuals and businesses in New Jersey including 10 other states and Washington D.C. alleging that USGE misrepresented and failed to disclose material facts regarding the true nature of USGE’s pricing for its gas and electric services. Final approval granted with settlement valued at $2 Million for a class size of over 200,000 individuals.
- Caruso, et al v. Work Out World (“WOW”), et al., MID-L-3112-13 – Co-Lead Class Counsel representing plaintiffs in class action filed on behalf of all current New Jersey residents who, during the proposed class period, entered into a Membership Agreement. Final approval granted and settlement for over 57,000 class members valued at over $8 MM;
- Ardino, et. al. v. RetroFitness LLC., et. Al. (“Retro”), et al. – Certified as co-lead counsel against Defendants on behalf of New Jersey residents who, during the proposed class period, entered into a Membership Agreement with Retro for use at a New Jersey location that was the same as or substantially similar to the Membership Agreements used in the Plaintiffs’ transactions. It is alleged that the Membership Agreements violate, inter alia, the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and Truth-in-consumer Contract Warranty and Notice At (“TCCWNA”);
- Cox et al. v. Chrysler Group, LLC (n/k/a FCA US LLC), 14-cv-7573 (MAS)(DEA), United States District Court for the District of New Jersey – Representing plaintiffs in class action filed on behalf of all purchasers of Chrysler vehicles that have defective sunroofs causing water to leak inside and damage their vehicles;
- Smerling v. Medispa – Representing plaintiffs in class action filed on behalf of all current New Jersey residents who, during the proposed class period, purchased the same or a substantially similar Groupon voucher to the one purchased by Ms. Smerling.
- Logan v Club Metro – MID-L-3877 – Class action filed against Defendants on behalf of all current New Jersey residents who, during the proposed class period, entered into a Membership Agreement. It is alleged that the Membership Agreements violate, inter alia, the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and Truth-in-consumer Contract Warranty and Notice At (“TCCWNA”) by providing for perpetually renewing monthly memberships upon expiration of the initial term;
- In Re Transvaginal Mesh Litigation – Representing plaintiffs in both the federal and state courts related to alleged defects in the mesh products which are intended to provide support for prolapsed pelvic organs and/or the urethra when a woman’s supporting muscles and tissue have been weakened due to age and other causes;
- Defending a large pharmaceutical manufacturer in personal injury, class action and multi-district litigation involving the company’s top selling arthritis drug where he worked on the regulatory team, affirmative discovery team and managed thousands of cases. Mr. Poulos and his team were responsible for dismissing hundreds of cases by drafting and filing motions to dismiss;
- Defending a large pharmaceutical manufacturer in individual and class action lawsuits involving the company’s popular osteoporosis drug;
- Representing the SIPA Trustee in the liquidation of Lehman Brothers, Inc., the largest broker-dealer liquidation in history, where he led various teams and collected nearly $60 million dollars due to failed trades in DVP/RVP accounts; and
- Representing one of the largest interior general construction contractors in NY, including second chairing arbitration and obtaining an award of close to $1 million related to the renovation of a NYC community center and successfully defending against numerous mechanics lien foreclosure actions and settling nearly $10 million dollars’ worth of construction litigation claims.
- Defense of an electronics manufacturer in the defense of a putative class action where class certification was denied.

Mr. Poulos is a 2001 Brooklyn Law School graduate where he was a Richardson Scholar and received his undergraduate degree from New York University in 1997.
